Miracles of Baba Balk Nath Ji

BABA BALAK NATH JI AT PAWANSTHALI DEOT SIDH

A Brahamin named as ‘Banarasi’ from the nearby village Chakmoh came to that area one day for grazing his cows. Baba Balak Nath Ji appeared before him and interacted. Banarasi told Baba Ji about his barren cows. Baba Ji asked where his cows were. Banarasi took Baba Ji to the place where his cows were grazing. Surprisingly only loins and tigers were there. After seeing the stunning posture of Banarasi, Baba Ji asked him to call his cows. Astonishingly, when Banarasi called, his cows reached him within no time. Seeing the miracle, Banarasi became utter devotee of Baba Ji. Banarasi continued to see and meet Baba Ji. One day, Baba Balak Nath Ji told Banarasi that now He would disappear and asked Banarasi to continue the tradition of ‘Dhuna’ and worshipping. Banarasi followed the Updesha (directions) of Baba Balak Nath Ji and continuously maintained the tradition. A Deot remained lighted near Baba Ji whose light spread far away in the nearby villages. Thus people had started calling Baba Ji as ‘Baba Deot Sidh’ and later on the place became famous as ‘Baba Deot Sidh’.

Pooja of Baba Balak Nath Ji at Deot Sidh

Everyday prayers are held in the morning and the evening. The process of worship starts from the ‘Thara’ after the bath of images by holy water supplied from ‘Baba ki Bauli’. The worship and prayer in other temples follows the sequence. ‘Rot’ is offered as oblation to Baba ji. On ‘Sankranti’ day only ‘halva’ is offered.

A notable rite of tributing he-goats to Baba ji carries a very interesting legend. It is told- Baba ji had made the provision of food to a ‘demon’ who, wished to remain at the feet of Baba ji after displacement from the ancient cave- ‘Gufa’.

The worship and adoration of Baba ji is performed in local traditions by igniting ‘Dhoop’ and perfume-sticks. Nothing is chanted in higher tone.

Food becomes available for public at about 11 a.m. after oblations in ‘Bhartrihari Temple’. Food in ‘Langar’ can also be had in evening after the prayer.

Festive gathering can be seen on every Sunday when ‘Havan Yajna’ is performed beside the ‘Dhuna’. People offer ‘Rot’, cash and kinds to Baba ji.
